This is a 2008 ESP Eclipse II AHB (Aged Honey Burst), which I purchased from Leadmusic in Geneva in April 2011. It’s aged (or distressed, as ESP call it) finish may not be to everyone’s taste, but I fell in love with this guitar at first sight. Trying it out in the shop sealed the deal. Amazing neck and action! Low action, but notes ringing true all the way up the neck, a neck profile only a gnat’s wotnot chunkier than my Eclipse I, and a wonderful rosewood fingerboard with beautifully installed jumbo frets. All of this adds up to a playability and shred-worthiness even better than my Eclipse I – and that’s saying something.
The passive pickups (Seymour Duncan JB/59 combo) make this guitar more versatile than it’s brother, especially for styles requiring lower gain and/or clean tones. However, these are great pickups and still sound great cranked up through the Dual Rec’s Modern mode on Channel 3, which is perhaps why they are a very popular choice for all sorts of guitarists.
